The Rose Valley trail is the most beautiful walk in Cappadocia — a winding path through a landscape of pink and orange tuff formations, ancient cave churches with faded frescoes, and vineyards. Best done at sunset when the rock turns deep amber.

Field notes

Walk from Göreme toward Çavuşin to have the light behind you at sunset. The trail is well-marked but bring a map — there are many forks.
